Quick Diet: I lost 12 pounds

So I've been doing this 7 day diet to lose a few pounds. I'm currently at the heaviest weight I've ever been in my life.  The diet breaks down like this:

best fast weight loss diet

Day 1: fruit only, no limit (felt good, pigged out on peaches, apples, bananas, and cantaloupe)

Day 2: veggies only and a baked potato, no limit on veggies but no carrots, peas or beans (felt good, ate celery, cucumber, zucchini, green peppers and salad).  I ate 2 small red potatoes with spray butter.  I started to feel hungry by night fall but I had two cups of tea which fulfilled the hunger.

Day 3: fruit and veggies, no limit but no potato.  I just ate any fruits and veggies I had in the house.  I cut up the fruit and had a fruit salad for breakfast (cantaloupe, strawberries, peaches), for lunch I had a salad with lettuce, cucumbers, green peppers and strawberries and for dinner I ate half a cantaloupe.

Day 4: bananas and up to 8 weight watchers yogurt, no limit on bananas (felt clear headed and focused, I ate 5 bananas and 4 yogurts). I was really hungry at night after a walk but a cup of herbal tea did the trick.

Day 5: poultry and up to 8 tomatoes, drink a glass of water after each tomato (I feel hungry and a little queasy today.  I ate some deli turkey, a sun dried tomato, some chicken wings, a few carrots (which weren't on the list for today) and about 5 sweet potato fries (also not on the list).  I've been sipping on water all day and have had two cups of tea so far.  For dinner I had ground turkey with a tomato sauce I made with fresh tomatoes, garlic and 1/2 an onion with spices.  It was dee to the lish but Travis didn't like it.  I was distracted with yard work and walking one of my dogs last night so I was too busy to think about food or be hungry.

Day 6: poultry and veggies, no limit, no potatoes.  I'll be eating my leftovers from dinner along with green peppers, cucumbers, lettuce and tomatoes today.

best fast weight loss diet

Day 7: miracle soup recipe: 2-3 onions, 1 head cabbage, 1 green pepper, 5-6 celery stalks, 2 cans of diced tomatoes, & 2 packages of Lipton soup.  Chop veggies and saute, blend tomatoes and add to the veggies, then add 5-6 cups of water.  Add soup mix after the veggies have been cooking for about 10 minutes.  This sounds really good and I can't wait to partake.

So, I'm currently on day 6.  I just weighed in and I've lost 9 pounds so far.  I haven't decided if I'm going to do this again, but my stomach feels smaller and I feel like I've given my body a chance to reset it's self since I've basically detoxed from breads and sweets.

The Paleo Recipe Book

I look forward to drinking water and tea and I can taste my food better and appreciate it more.  Gum has really helped me when I feel the most hungry, but I haven't had any hunger pains, I think it's mostly psychological.  I'm pretty sure my body just thinks I'm supposed to have something sweet at 3 p.m. every day and after dinner each night, so it doesn't know what in the hell is going on.

Tips

After Day 7 I weighed myself and had lost 12 pounds in the week.  I've never lost that much weight so fast and I felt like it gave me a jump start to start eating healthier.  I would definitely recommend this to jump start new eating habits.  I think it would be safe to do this every 6-8 weeks, but definitely not everyday.  This is just my opinion and not medical advice. Happy eating!

Skipping Meals Can Sabotage Your Weight

At Foodtrainers, we’re huge fans of the food log. Especially for self-described “healthy eaters,” the devil (or weight loss) is in the details. And with many of our clients, I can see from their journals they’re already making decent choices. Many of our clients have slashed excess sugar and “white” carbs. But what I do find is evidence of underfueling, or eating insufficient. And underfueling leads to over fueling, which can ultimately sabotage your weight loss goal.

I suspect underfueling when clients say “I do so well during the day, it’s at night when I've problems with self-control.” Sound familiar? If you come home from work and turn into a snack monster, keep reading.

Underfueling Leads to Over Fueling
There are lots of reasons why you might find yourself underfueling. I often hear, “I’m too busy to eat at work,” “I’m a stay-at-home mom. I don’t have a set lunchtime,” or “Local lunch options are unappealing, so I don’t bother eating.” Then there are the “saver uppers” who think skimping on calories early in the day allows them to eat whatever they want for dinner later. (In reality, saver uppers never save as much as they think they do.) Even with clients who take the time to bring a mid-day meal from home can run into underfueling trouble most brown baggers don’t pack enough.

Beyond feeling ravenous later in the day, there are consequences to underfueling and skipping meals. Erratic calorie intake puts a toll on blood sugar, and when insulin is taxed our bodies store more belly fat. And one study shows not eating daytime meals results in increased levels of ghrelin, the hunger hormone. Ghrelin is a nasty hormone—when you produce more of it, you tend to overeat.

What’s an Underfueler to Do?
Start small. It’s not crucial to have a huge breakfast, but you should have something with protein within two hours of waking up. (6 to 8 ounces of low-fat Greek yogurt topped with walnuts or chia seeds is a good option.)

Then, make lunch more significant. I consider lunch to be the most important meal of the day, and it should be your largest. I’m not talking about a plate piled with pasta here, but I do suggest making your midday meal an entrée, not a collection of snacks or a skimpy salad.

Dinner is the best place to cut portions or calories. When you’ve properly fueled throughout the day, you’ll feel satisfied with a smaller evening meal.

If you’re already eating kale, hitting your daily step goal, and slashing sugar and other empty carbs, the secret to losing weight could be eating more regularly not skipping meals or being a saver upper.

When you eat can make all the difference.

How to Make Money on Your FitBit

  • Now you can start to earn those points and then redeem your credit at ShopYourWay.com!!

2. Earn Walgreen’s Balance Rewards Points.
Another way to earn money is to connect your FitBit to your Walgreen’s Balance Rewards card.  It is easy to connect your device and start to earn points for walking!
  • Visit Walgreens.com and sign up for a Balance Rewards Account (if you do not already have one).
  • Once you have your card, create (or sign into) your account.
  • From the main screen, click on Account Home.
  • From there, scroll down to find Balance Rewards for Healthy Choices (Steps) and click the blue button EARN POINTS.
  • Click through the screens sharing information. Next you can click on connect a Fitness Tracker (so it updates for you automatically).
  • Select the type of tracker you are using.
  • Next, you will redirect to FitBit’s site and need to ALLOW the app to run (pink button).

  • Enter your information on the first screen.
  • Next, you will see a link to connect your AchieveMint account to your FitBit account.  Click there and follow the steps.
  • You earn points for the activities you complete and when you reach 50,000 points, you will get a $50 Visa Card!!
I love that you don’t have to do anything more than just walk to build up those points!

4. Every Move to Earn Points.
This is a health rewards program which allows you to earn points via your FitBit  (and other methods).  You might even check with your insurance company or employer as some of them will even MATCH the points you earn!
  • Visit EveryMove.org and click the orange SIGN UP button.
  • Once your account is set up, you will be redirected to a page which shows various devices, including the FitBit.  Click to connect your account.
  • Once connected, you will then go and can add your Health Plan, Employer or even college (where you may earn bonus points or additional rewards if they participate).  If you do not have these, you can just skip that step.
What was great is that when I signed up, it went back and grabbed some of my prior activity, which added in some “retro-active” points for me!
The only down side to this one is that you don’t earn free items, but rather discounts on those products you may want to purchase.

5. Earn points to donate to charity (or keep them for yourself) through Higi.
This is an interesting app because it will allow you to earn points to redeem towards products, or, if you prefer, make a donation to a charity!
  • Visit higi.com and click the green SIGN UP button.
  • Fill out the profile information.
  • When you get to the screen to connect your device, click on the FitBit link.
  • Follow the steps to link your account.
  • Once you reach points, you can either cash them in towards discount codes or donate to a charity instead.
The great thing is that most of these apps will also work with any device you have, allowing you to earn money while staying active!

DIY Body Wrap – Lose up to 1 inch over night!

Hello Sweeties! This is T.J. from Sugar Blossoms and I’m so excited to be here today to share this DIY body wrap with you! School is out and I’m ready for summer but I have a problem: I don’t like how I look in a bathing suit. I’ve been working on losing weight but the fact that I’ve had 3 children has left me with a less-than-stellar stomach . . . if ya know what I mean.

Today I’m bringing you a wallet-friendly version of body wraps. I’ve been seeing these around the internet lately and mentioned them to a friend. She’s from Mexico and said she’s been doing those for years, just not the commercialized type. I tried it one night and lost .5 inches on my gut overnight!

Here’s her “secret recipe” for DIY Body Wrapping. You only need 3 things:

DIY body wrap supplies

  • Lotion (it’s best if it contains something from the ocean: seaweed, kelp, mud. I couldn’t find any, so I just used what I had on-hand.)
  • Clear plastic wrap
  • Bandage wrap
It’s a simple process!

body wrap to lose inches reviews

Step 1 – Apply a thick layer of lotion to the area you want to target. {Don’t rub it in completely!} You can do it on your stomach, your thighs, your upper arms, wherever your “trouble spots” are.

body wrap to lose inches reviews

Step 2 – Wrap the ENTIRE area with your plastic wrap. I went all the way around my mid-section several times. Make it snug but not tight; you do have to wear it ALL night long.

Step 3 – Now wrap the area with a long bandage of some kind, anything that will keep your wrap in place. Be sure to cover the plastic completely.

Secure it well and you’re ready to hit the sack!
The idea behind this is to help your body release water that’s retained due to weather, food consumption; even Mother Nature’s visits. The combination of lotion and plastic helps sweat it out of you.

I’ve only tried it once but I LOVED the result!  Maybe a little something to help get you swimsuit ready.

Flat Belly Water Best Way Reduce Belly Fat

Flavored water is very refreshing, and pairing up these ingredients that aid in digestion has lead to what I call flat belly water.

best way reduce belly fat,

Benefits:

Lemon
Is a superfood that aids in digestion, plus, Dr. Oz says could “be a wrinkle fighter”.  Lemons  are also a good alkaline source with helps balance your ph levels, supports weight loss and lemon juice is known for preventing kidney stones.

Cucumbers
Reduce the build up of water in the circulatory system, letting you flush out the excess water instead of leaving inside to build up.  Cucumbers contain silica which help your build healthy muscle tissue as well as known for helping clear skin that is prone to acne.

Mint
Can help stop stomach aches, reduce headaches and decrease congestion.   It also kills any harmful bacteria, keeping your mouth naturally clean.

Ginger
Aids in circulation, helps clear up sinuses and reduce gas symptoms.  Ginger is also an anti-inflammatory, which can help in reducing joint pain and aches.

All these ingredients have many health benefits (only a few listed above), but essentially all help aid in digestion.  This is why I refer to it as the flat belly water. Drinking this water will not cause you to retain water. It will cleanse your body and leave you feeling refreshed.

  Ingredients:
  • 2-3 large lemons, thinly sliced
  • 1 Cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 18-20 mint leaves
  • 1/2 – 1 tbsp ginger ground
  • 1 gallon of water

Directions

  1. Thoroughly wash all fruits and veggies and thinly slice the lemon and cucumber.

(If you don’t have a slicer, I suggest purchasing one if you plan on doing this a few times a week.  I use this slicer from target which works very well and doesn’t take up much room in storage.)
  2. Fill container with ingredients and fill to the top with water.

(I prefer to use this 1.25 gallon slim water jug in my fridge.  I found it at The Container Store  and they have multiple sizes.)

  3. Soak in fridge overnight and enjoy within 2 days.
The Paleo Recipe Book

If you drink a gallon of water on day 1, you can refill it up and let it soak a second night with the same ingredients (just add more ginger).  Mint leaves will start to go bad after about 2 days of soaking.

5 Reasons To Eat The Whole Egg

We’ve got good news for you it’s time to eat the whole egg. Jenny Sansouci, AADP certified Health Coach with a certificate in Food Therapy, gives us a whole gaggle of reasons you should respect the yolk.

5 Reasons To Eat The Whole Egg

1. The Yolk Is Packed With Nutrition

Egg yolks contain antioxidants, B12, vitamin A, iron, selenium, biotin, phosphorous, choline, and other various trace nutrients. Choline in particular, which most Americans are deficient in, is a very important nutrient for brain function, the nervous system, and supporting detoxification in the body.

2. The Dietary Cholesterol + Heart Disease Connection Is A Myth

I know you’ve been taught for years that dietary cholesterol is harmful and should be avoided, but the truth is, your body needs cholesterol for important functions, like building and repairing cells. Studies have shown little to no link between dietary cholesterol and higher blood cholesterol levels. Your liver produces cholesterol on its own, so if you have more cholesterol in your diet, your liver will produce less cholesterol naturally. Cool, right?

3. Eggs Are One Of The Most Perfect Forms Of Protein

There’s a reason eggs are super popular in the fitness world. They’re an awesome source of protein, at about 6 grams per large egg, with all essential amino acids. Vegetarians and meat-eaters alike can reap the protein-packed benefits from eggs.

4. Eating Whole Foods Helps Digestion

When you consume fragmented foods like egg whites, your body doesn’t process it like a whole food. This means you can often develop cravings for “something else” because your body is wondering where the rest of the food is. Save yourself the hassle of jumping on the cravings roller coaster and just eat the whole food!

The Paleo Recipe Book

5 Reasons To Eat The Whole Egg

Really. Admit it, egg whites taste boring. And don’t even get me started on liquid egg “substitutes.” Those are not food, and even the ones that are 100% eggs or egg whites lose nutrients during the processing and are not whole foods.

Now go ahead—have your egg and eat it too! When shopping for eggs, local, pasture-raised organic eggs are the way to go. They are much higher in nutrition (notice how yellow those yolks are compared to conventional eggs). Avoid eggs with antibiotics, from chickens fed with GMOs, or from poorly-treated chickens!

Best Fast Weight Loss Diet

So I've been doing this 7 day diet to lose 10 pounds.
